Askerswell
Askerswell
Set on the edge of the glorious Marshwood Vale, Askerwell is a quintessential Dorset village with a local pub – the Spyway Inn, said to have taken its name from a lookout for smugglers! Away from major roads, you’ll find peace and seclusion from the rat-race here.
Close by you’ll find lofty Eggardon Hill topped by an Iron-Age hill fort and with outstanding views west to Bridport, the unspoilt and peaceful sweep of Cogden Beach, and Mangerton Mill – a working watermill with a cafe, Museum of Rural Bygones and riverside walks in the grounds if you fancy something to do that doesn’t involve hiking!
